Scripture Union Daily Guide 23rd March 2026 – Outline

Living a life of praise is an attitude that each believer must intentionally cultivate. Note the Psalmist’s resolve to a life of praise (Psalms 111:1). We should praise God without reservation (“with my whole heart”) both in private and public, in our small (families) and big companies (congregations). I have realized that the first words I write on any new page I open in my notebook or pad are “Praise the LORD!” The constant and regular writing of the phrase helps to fix my thoughts on the Lord and strengthens my confidence in him, whatever the situation. What are some of the habitual practices that enable us to live a life of praise?

The Psalmist invites us to a practice of meditation on the works of God (Psalms 111:2) and on the ‘glory,’ ‘majesty,’ and ‘righteousness’ of God that never fails (Psalms 111:3).
What else can we learn about God in Psalms 111:4-9 which can strengthen our faith and help us to cultivate a life of praise? Also, note an important and necessary factor for meaningful praises in Psalms 111:10.

Food for Thought
“God cannot be acceptably praised with a divided heart … for our whole heart is little enough for his glory” (Spurgeon).
